Electronic business (e-business) refers to the use of the internet to network and empower business processes, electronic commerce, organisational communication and collaboration within an organisation and with its stakeholders. The commercial processes are supported by the internet, intranets, extranets and other networks. This course begins with an introduction to e-business from the point of view of the consumer. Students are guided through e-business solutions and enterprise application integration. This course also covers new technologies, XML and object technology. In other words, examples of e-business applications are a feature of this course and these help the process of comprehending how the internet has been used in different business settings.

At the end of the course, you should be able to identify and use digital consumer behaviour theories, design a relevant website, reflect on how companies use 2.0, build a customer service oriented organisation, make decision around culture and consumer behaviour, identify Web 2.0 Technologies, discuss online shopping experience web 1.0 vs 2.0, create a Web 2.0 environment and identify the elements who and what influence the purchasing process.
