Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Our client, a well-known International ICT company, is currently looking for an Accountant which will be based in the UAE. In this role, you will provide financial information to management by researching and analysing accounting data, preparing reports, preparing asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information and documents financial transactions by entering account information. Additionally, you will primarily be reporting to the Finance Analyst.

Responsibilities:

Accounting:
• Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.
• Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
• Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
• Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
• Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Secures financial information by completing database backups.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
• Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
• Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
• Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
• Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Self-management:
• Define performance goals at the start of the year, identify training and development requirements for self and strive to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all competencies and skills required to perform the role

Continuous improvement
• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of unit systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement

Security & environment
• Act in accordance and strictly abide by the company its security policies, procedures and controls specifically related to sharing of information.
• Act in accordance with the company’s it code of conduct and escalate any instances of violation in a timely manner to guarantee the safeguard of company information and a responsible environment attitude

Governance
• Abide by the company’s policies and procedures as well as functions within the delegation of authority and boundaries of the department governance frameworks

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet to following requirements,

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or specialization in Accounting
• Professional Certification CPA or CIA preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in account receivables or payables
• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel or other spread sheet program(s)
• Knowledge and application of the monthly and annual reporting per accounting standards
• Experience working with Oracle ERP is an advantage
• Experience in commercial accounting is preferred
• Exposure to computerized accounting programs and ERPs
• Extensive knowledge of cost and managerial accounting
• Ability to understand issues, demonstrate resourcefulness, and solve problems in a timely manner
• Good analytical, presentation and problem-solving skills
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Good judgment and decision-making skill
