Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Assistant Accountant is primarily responsible for all aspects of the procurement process, including assisting with obtaining bids, maintaining vendor relations, procurement record keeping, assisting MRC-NECC staff with all aspects of procurement, and other related tasks as deemed necessary by the Associate Director of Accounting.
• Obtain or assist with obtaining quotations and bids from suppliers according to MRC-NECC Procurement Policy
• Maintain accurate records of all quotations and bids, including justification for selecting the winning bidder
• Review all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options
• Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers
• Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply contracts
• Ensure that the products and supplies are high quality
• Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data
• Evaluate suppliers, products, and services, negotiate contracts, and ensure that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality
• Maintain and update a list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development
• Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies as appropriate
• Work with team members and Associate Director to complete duties as needed Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
• Complete Reconciliation of Accounts, Breakdown of Expenses and VAT Return paperwork.

Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policy, and systems
• Minimum 2- 3 years’ accounting experience as a procurement officer or related position
• Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
• Ability to negotiate, establish, and administer contracts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English language)
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Accurate and precise attention to detail
• Goal-oriented, organized team player
• General Accounting experience
