Accounting Trainee

Job description / Role

Job Summary:

The job holder of this position is responsible for assisting reporting accountants with basic accounting tasks to facilitate month and annual reporting including financial audits.

Job Responsibilities:

Organizational

- Follow all relevant accounting policies, processes and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner

Operational

- Implement activities under close supervision
- Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure case/issue is closed efficiently and in timely a manner

Accounts Payable

- Review AP ageing and inquire AP teams about aged balances.
- Ensure proper accruals for intercompany expenses

Sales & Collection, Rents and Reporting

- Review COH schedules prepared by retail collections team and inquire about outstanding balances
- Ensure old variances are escalated and resolved.

Accounts Receivable

- Review AR ageing reports and request updates from the AR team.
- Review ECL calculations and compare it with policy provisions.

Reporting

- Prepare all balance sheet schedules by the due date.
- Follow up with respective finance teams on timely reversals of accruals.
- Prepare audit schedules to facilitate audits.
- Keep track of audit outstanding lists and provide daily update to Group Head of Accounting and Finance Manager Accounting.
- Prepare financial statements in word format and share with the auditors.

Requirements

Your Profile

- University Degree in Accounting.
- A fully or partially qualified ACCA/CPA candidate.
- 0-2 years of experience in the same field.
