Job Title Architect

Accountable To

- To lead review of Architectural submissions of ADPorts customers in line with approved master plans and development guidelines and approved building codes.
- To participate in the formulation of rational plans and policies to guide the physical development of ABU DHABI PORTS’s land in line with the Company’s expressed goals and objectives and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s regulations.

Responsible for

Core Responsibilities:

- Lead the building permits review process for Abu Dhabi Ports customers.
- Coordinate with other disciplines involved in the permitting process.
- Suggest modifications to the process as required.
- Lead the preparation of development proposals for Abu Dhabi Ports projects.
- Participate in monitoring plan compliance and provide technical support during plan implementation
- Provide the necessary guidance to promote safe, sustainable, and attractive developments
- Participate in preparing development and design guidelines, codes, and other rules or regulations as required
- Coordinate or support the preparation and periodic update of other architectural and planning documents as required (e.g. building codes …).
- Carry out any other activity identified to support the department.
- Participate in the Preparation of all master planning and land planning related activities from preparing scopes of work through monitoring plan compliance and managing change

Working Relationship

- Reporting To: Senior Manager - Urban Planning
- Key Internal Contacts: UPD, IDO, IZ and ABU DHABI PORTS relevant Departments
Purpose of Interaction: To provide and receive inputs on all updates and strategic interactions related to building permits/urban planning at Abu Dhabi Ports Areas.
- Key External Contacts: External Stakeholders Regulatory Bodies, Tenants, Consultants
Purpose of Interaction: To liaise and interact with external stakeholders and other regulatory bodies, tenants and their consultants, as needed, to communicate building permits matters

Objectives and Role Profile

Strategic Responsibilities:

- Contribute to development and land management policies and procedures including building permits.
- Manage in-house project teams and external consultants to carry out tasks
- Initiate further studies or architectural activities required to support the implementation of the KPIZ Master Plan, strategic plans, business plans, and other ABU DHABI PORTS initiatives

Key Tasks and Performance Indicators

People Management Responsibilities:

- Lead Kizad Clients building permits process Reviews.
- Work as an effective member of the Urban Planning and Permitting Department to develop plans and policies for a large, mixed use industrial port development
- Guide tenants to secure building permits.
- Liaise with external regulatory authorities and stakeholders as necessary

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience/Competencies

- Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Architecture.
- Strong knowledge in Abu Dhabi International Building CODE (ADIBC).
- Strong knowledge of urban planning, urban design, and/or related field(s)
- Strong ability in methods and techniques of effective research and technical report preparation and presentation
- Experience in the Architectural design, circulation and other relevant disciplines.
- Ability to prepare, analyse and interpret planning and development proposals, technical and administrative reports, statements, and correspondence
- Experience in the supervision, training, and evaluation of assigned staff
- Experience in directing and implementing comprehensive developments.
- Experienced project manager
- Experienced team leader that can manage, direct, and motivate team members
- Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional (PQP) is a plus.
- Fluent written & spoken English (minimum); knowledge in Arabic is a plus
- More than 5 years of experience in Architectural Design.
- Relevant experience in the region is required especially Abu Dhabi Municipality Building Permits.
