Assistant Buyer

Job description / Role

An eCommerce platform renowned for their premium, contemporary and designer fashion is seeking an Assistant Buyer with strong experience and knowledge working in the Middle East/GCC. We are seeking an individual who has around 1-2 years buying experience with a premium or contemporary multi-brand business. This role will be based in Dubai and report directly into the Buying Director and CEO. You will be working collaboratively across a multi category team consisting of womenswear apparel, accessories, footwear and leather goods .

* All jobs as directed by the Fashion Director including:
* Research fashion trends and customer buying behaviour to inform the team
* Regular review of performance within each brand and category to drive key buying decisions
* Analyze sell-thrus, best sellers, slow sellers, best-selling sizes across different brands
* Monitor sales and stock levels regularly and to inform the right buying actions
* Place purchase and re-orders, and regular follow-up with brands to ensure delivery to the warehouse is on time, reporting any likely delays
* Organise RTVs where goods need to be returned to brands
* Assist Fashion Director with planning and OTB budgets
* Assist Fashion Director in market scheduling - across NYC, London, Milan and Paris
* Help to negotiate best payment and delivery terms with the brands
* Ensure suppliers are actively managed through effective communication and follow-up
* Maintain and improve relationships with the existing brands
* Assist in the sourcing of new brands to fit with the buying strategy
* Provide the suppliers with necessary sell-thrus and other reports
* Coordinate and provide support and information to other departments; Editorial, PR & Marketing, E-Commerce, Operations and Finance
* Responsible for providing essential information to the business such as brand marketing, supplier contact details, product information, payment and delivery terms etc.
* Comply with company's standard operating processes, systems and quality standards
* Report on weekly activities, highlights, issues and results
* Assist the Fashion Director in compiling a seasonal buying report after each market trip
* Support the Fashion Director and other Buying Team members to achieve team goals
* Analyse competitor pricing
* Participate in promotional activities for the brands as required
* Continuously seek for opportunities to reduce overall costs and improve processes across the buying and procurement process

Requirements

* 1-2 years Experience in buying in a high-end fashion brand
* Experience within the Middle East
* Tenacious, assertive and determined attitude
* Excellent communication, analytical and data entry skills
* An interest, enthusiasm and passion for fashion.
