Job description / Role
The primary duty of an Assistant Cook is to cook, assist and help in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. Their main duties include but not limited to:
• Knows how to cook food with Arabic, Indian and Continental cuisine experience preferred
• Perform food preparation activities such as cleaning, cutting, chopping and peeling food ingredients
• Cleaning and sanitising the food preparation areas as per health and safety standards and hygiene measures
• Washing, disinfecting and properly storing kitchen utensils and equipment
• Buying, weighing and storing ingredients and food supplies accordingly
• Operating variety of kitchen appliances and instruments including cutters, knives, mixers and ovens
• Aware of food temperatures and food preparation timings
• Managing inventory, unloading supplies and organising the storage room
• With knowledge in cost control, waste management, supplies monitoring and stock reports
Requirements
• Secondary/Diploma/Vocational in food and beverage/hospitality
• Vast Experience as an Assistant cook in a restaurant setting
• Experience in fast paced kitchen operations
• Knowledge in Arabic, Indian and Continental cuisines is an advantage
• Knowledge on food and safety handling and hygiene measures
• Excellent time management, organizational and operational skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Knows how to take initiative and dependable
• Team player
• Good in attention to details
• Presentable
• Able to join immediately
