Assistant Digital Content & Communications Developer

Job description / Role

We at Al Tayer Group are looking for a Assistant Digital Content & Communications Developer (Front End) as a part of the marketing team. The developer would be responsible for executing the design and programming best practices to create digital communication assets (including but not limited to emails, website and applications) that support the business objectives and CRM strategies.

They will assist the Senior Digital Developer to bridge the gap between graphic design and technical implementation, coding and development of digital assets (front end).

They will be strong front end developers and possess a basic understanding of back end integrations.

Functional Responsibilities
• Using industry best practice, assist the development of user-facing digital properties that support the Retail and Motors businesses including:
• Websites (mobile responsive)
• Micro Sites (temporary websites for campaigns)
• Responsive Email
• Implement web analytics requirements for all the brand’s digital assets. (Google analytics, Tag manager, Litmus)
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use in Exact Target (Salesforce), and website CMS systems
• Maintain the quality and consistency of digital properties across email clients, web browsers and mobile devices, to ensure correct rendering and design optimization.
• Adhere to coding standards and best practices to ensure maximum speed and scalability of digital properties
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders including designers, managers and internal clients.
• Stay abreast of online trends and technological advances, including email clients, social media sites.
• Amending and assisting 3rd parties such as company appointed agencies with technical support and solutions in order to align their deliverables with the company objectives.

Requirements

• Graduate or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science or related field. Knowledge of HTML is critical. Experience in Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop along with the above is preferred.
• Between 3-5 years of experience, including email and web design and coding experience. Work experience in a digital or marketing agency is preferred.

Functional Skills & Specific Knowledge:
• Excellent programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
• Strong understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
• Proficient understanding of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as AngularJS, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, DurandalJS.
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Skilled with tools such as Adobe Photoshop.
• Good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git / Mercurial / SVN.
• Basic knowledge of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
• Effective problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
• Working knowledge of email clients (ExactTarget, Mailchimp etc) and CMS Systems
• Attention to detail
