The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position. Qualified candidates at all levels will be considered at a rank commensurate with academic accomplishments.

Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a demonstrable research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, publish his/her research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of the UAE University.

The application package should include a detailed resume with a brief description of current/future research activities, teaching philosophy, and courses taught. English is the language of instruction and communication.

The Department of Linguistics, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, United Arab Emirates University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position with a specialization in neurological aspects of language and communication disorders. The post is expected to be available from September 2019, pending budgetary approval.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have earned a PhD with a specialization in speech pathology, clinical linguistics, communication disorders or any other related field. All relevant areas of expertise will be considered. Applicants should demonstrate a strong publication record, teaching experience, and history of external funding commensurate with level of appointment. A research focus on language disorders or related fields is expected. Successful applicants are expected to teach undergraduate level courses in the Linguistics major and the minor in Aphasia. They should also be able to contribute to the teaching of courses in the general education program as needed, be engaged in research, advise students, and serve on committees. English is the language of instruction, and successful candidates must have native or near native competence in oral and written English. We are seeking an energetic researcher/lecturer who is interested in the opportunity to join a fast-growing and innovative department. Faculty in the Department of Linguistics are involved in numerous research projects and the department hosts a state-of-the-art EEG Lab, eye-tracking facilities, and a state-of-the-art Phonetics Lab. The Department aims to extend its language disorders program by introducing a new BSc program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (currently at the proposal stage). We seek an applicant who would be willing to lead the department towards achieving this goal. Compensation includes competitive tax-free salary, free housing in off-campus villa or apartment, a comprehensive health plan, education allowance for children, annual return travel to home destination, and an end-of-service gratuity. Minimum Qualification
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate courses is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.
