Job Description
Main Purpose of the Job:
Mott MacDonald are currently looking to recruit an Aviation Practice Leader to focus on growing and developing our aviation capability and offering across the Middle East. The role will focus on developing and building on the current team whilst also looking to develop existing and new opportunities.

As well as being a technical leader in the field you will demonstrate strong strategic and commercial acumen, with a focus on delivery of excellence and an ability to develop high profile relationships. You will have significant experience in advisory, planning, design and development of aviation projects.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Deliver existing aviation projects and build on existing relationships in the aviation industry
- Provide insight into potential new clients and lead the business development activities relating to new aviation clients.
- Demonstrate technical leadership in the application of aviation advisory, planning and engineering
- Take the account leader role on Platinum and Gold aviation clients in the region.
- Be able to work with leading architects, developers, operators and management consultants to develop world class solutions and embed Mott MacDonald as their consultant of choice
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the market, help capture new opportunities, direct the bid process liaising with development teams and relevant location country managers to ensure we produce powerful, attractive, compliant and competitive proposals
- Lead the aviation practice within MM and participate and contribute to the global practice network
- Develop and deliver the annual Practice Plan which sets out specific objectives, actions, resources and key deadlines for the coming year
- Engage with the Middle East market in thought leadership for innovative solutions
- Establish, monitor and meet the annual budget and, where appropriate request funding for any further specific internal projects
- Report on the progress of the Practice through agreed Practice metrics
- Develop the Unit's aviation capability through engagement with employees to encourage new thinking and manage performance effectively
- Identify a fit for future team structure and lead the recruitment process
- Provide leadership to the regional practice community to achieve the Practice Objectives and strive to make the practice feel and operate like an inclusive, welcoming community by driving integration and collaboration across geographical and organisation boundaries
- Establish and develop a strong Practice community through personal engagement, regular discussions and appropriate face-to-face meetings
- Appoint individuals from the Young Professional communities to support the Practice Leader in meeting the Practice objectives
- Lead the Practice's response to the Regional Practice initiatives. For example, Digital Delivery week, Excellence Week, internal award submissions
- Develop targeted client relationships in conjunction with the relevant Account Leaders

Requirements

Candidate Specification
Essential Candidate Requirements:
- Recognition within the industry as an innovator and technical leader
- Experience working for management consultants and PPCM experience preferable
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline preferably professional chartered status
- Minimum 15 years of experience and significant experience operating at this level
- Proven track record in growing and developing a regional team
- Proven negotiating and influencing skills at executive level
- Proven Client relationships in the Middle East and South Asia
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
- Previous experience in managing and delivering technical excellence into significant projects, understanding and managing budgets, resources and a strong commercial acumen
- Middle East and South Asia experience is required
- Being able to assess situations in the context of the full business ecosystem
- Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across individuals, teams and projects
- Using leadership skills to build and nurture relationships and also creating effective working environments
- Able to manage multiple teams with diverse backgrounds on geographically and culturally diverse teams
