Job Purpose
The Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Barista to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee and beverages, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and visitors. The Barista will play a vital role in enhancing the overall experience at the academy’s café.

Duties and Responsibilities

Coffee and Beverage Preparation:
• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks (espresso, cappuccino, latte, etc.), tea, artisan and speciality beverages according to standard recipes and customer preferences.
• Create specialty drinks and seasonal beverages.
• Ensure the consistency and quality of all beverages served.

Customer Service:
• Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service.
• Take orders accurately and efficiently.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues in a professional manner.

Café Maintenance:
• Maintain a clean and organised work area, including coffee machines, countertops, and service and seating areas.
• Follow health and safety regulations in food handling and preparation.
• Regularly clean and sanitise equipment and utensils.

Inventory Management:
• Monitor stock levels of inventory and other supplies.
• Assist in ordering and restocking inventory as needed.
• Track usage and report any discrepancies.

Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the café.
• Assist with training new employees on café procedures and customer service standards.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential:
• Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods and techniques.
• Excellent customer service and English communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions.
• Enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge.
• Adaptable to change and willing to embrace new ideas and processes.
• Positive and approachable manner.
• Ability to work as a team and autonomously.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 25kg).

Desirable:
• Flexibility to work carious shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Previous training as a Barista.
• Experience in a cultural, arts or educational institution.
