Job Purpose:

The BI Product Specialist focuses on the delivery of new analytics capabilities to generate business insights. Represents the business in the agile delivery environment and ensures delivery and acceptance of products which include reports, dashboards, and semantically modeled datasets. Engaging with business users to ensure the right level of communication, engagement, acceptance, and use of features as they become available. Providing data stewardship by ensuring consistency and systematic documentation of all business metadata as it arises in the design and implementation of new analytics features.

In this role, you will:

- Ensure all data assets delivered are compliant with the Enterprise Analytics mission of a single Enterprise Data Platform, business semantics are modeled and implemented, and data quality by design is prioritized as part of every feature delivered.
- Critically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the semantic layer and advise the engineering teams on required changes or improvements.
- Utilise visualization tools such as MicroStrategy or Power BI to build interactive, insightful, and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
- Enrich and maintain a thorough map of core systems and processes to be included in the Business Intelligence domain of their business area to reduce the time taken to analyze requirements and ensure data products are built about impacts on other platforms.
- Create and maintain a consistent approach towards the relevant business metadata documentation for the assigned subject areas within their domain, including, e.g., Information Matrix, entity definitions, and entity relationships, metric and KPI documentation, data dictionaries, and user guides.
- Assist the Product Owner in translating features into prioritized user stories that include a clear description of associated business value and acceptance criteria. Ensure user feedback is incorporated into user stories by including scrum ceremonies in the business engagement model.
- Support business stakeholders in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of delivered features or carry out UAT on behalf of business clients ensuring a systematic approach to testing and reduction of production faults.
- Develop the capability of the scrum teams to understand the business context of features and user stories delivered through each Program Increment (PI), arranging engagement sessions, running workshops, and acting as a first line of inquiry on behalf of business in scrum teams.
- Maintain relevant analysis of each story before committing in PI planning to ensure the greatest chance of successful delivery, including source analysis, modeling paradigms, business value, and acceptance criteria are defined.
- Employ relevant information management tools throughout the delivery process and ensure ownership within the business is assigned and maintained post-delivery.

Requirements:

- Degree with honors (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science or Information Technology.
- 5+ years in working with and an understanding of Data & Analytics tools and platforms including Data Warehouses, data lakes, and visualization toolsets.
- Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following business domains such as customer, commercial, operations, Finance, Human Resources, etc.
- Experience in using data & analytics tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI, Databricks, ADSL, and Snowflake).
- Experience of delivering end-to-end analysis of a business problem from data extraction, and modeling, to dashboard creation and monitoring over time.
- Experience in either Power BI MicroStrategy or another visualization tool set is a must.
- Strong analytics and business intelligence skills.
- Knowledge of SQL/Python/R
- Strong knowledge of database and semantic layer tools with the ability to query and critically evaluate the effectiveness of designed data models.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the business, including external parties.
- Knowledge of BI applications and design principles.
- Knowledge of data and KPIs commonly used in the airline industry, particularly as they relate to the commercial application of this information.
- Working experience with large-scale storage systems in 24/7 high-availability data center environments.
