Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Control and Instrumentation Design Engineer to join our team at our hazardous waste treatment facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, supporting the procurement, leading the installation, commissioning and handover of control systems and instrumentation for our state-of-the-art hazardous waste treatment processes.
Main Accountabilities:
- Design and develop control systems and instrumentation for hazardous waste treatment processes
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Perform system integration and testing of control and instrumentation equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems and instrumentation
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize plant operations
- Manage projects from conception to completion, including budget and timeline adherence
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and industry best practices
- Provide technical support and training to operations staff
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in control and instrumentation design, preferably in hazardous waste treatment or similar industrial settings
- Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and DCS
- Experience with instrumentation for flow, level, pressure, and temperature measurement
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, ISA, ATEX)
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification and intrinsically safe design principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar design software
- Willingness to work in a hazardous waste treatment environment
- Experience in good EPC projects design practices
- Experience in brownfield refurbishment/upgrade projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with specific control system platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Honeywell)
- Knowledge of waste treatment processes and technologies
- Proficiency in construction management software and Google suite
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Valid driver's license (manual gearbox)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to be on foot for extended periods and navigate construction sites
- Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel between multiple construction sites if required
