Chief Accountant

Job description / Role

The Chief Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports, annual budgets and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures using ERP applications (MS Dynamics AX).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Control and monitor full spectrum of financial and cost accounting role: AR, AP, GL, forecasting, budgeting etc.
• Supervising the accounts team to assure closing of books monthly ,quarterly and annually on time
• Preparing the monthly report requested by the Accounts Manager accurately
• Assisting the Accounts Manager in day to day accounting operations
• Support and assist in preparing the financial budgets and applying the same on the systems.
• Coordinate with the IT team to customize the MS Dynamics AX for more efficient accounting functions
• Monitor the sales summary and showrooms sales checking and assuring of cash deposits
• Allocating customs payments to orders as part of costing process
• Receivables and collection issues (Real-estate tenants, Customer’s collections controlling in all showrooms, other collections)
• Controlling full cash cycle by performing bank reconciliation for all bank accounts
• Money laundry and other related governmental requirements (if any)
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances and cost analysis
• Responsible for overseeing the month end closing, monthly journal entries (prepare and input) and reconciliations
• All enquiries and follow up with all banks across UAE
• Maintaining financial records and processing related data such as invoices, vouchers and other documents; monitor and reconcile accounts with detailed financial statements.
• Analyze financial information and prepare complex financial reports and statements reflecting various data for utilization by higher management.
• Work consultatively with the respective departments on cost reduction initiatives
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent strategic planning skills and able to interact with all levels
• Good MS Office skills specifically strong knowledge of MS Excel
• Able to work independently and highly meticulous
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Good Accounting knowledge of ERP systems
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Education and Experience

Training:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting. (Master’s degree in accounts /Commerce, finance, or a closely related field would be a plus).

Experience:
Five to eight years of experience performing professional accounting work with one year of lead or supervisory experience. Public agency experience, and advanced degree and/or CPA are desirable.
