Chief Technology Officer

Job description / Role

Our Client, a leading company in the UAE, is looking for a young and energetic CTO, to join their team in Dubai. The main purpose of the role is to spearhead the company’s technical vision, providing leadership and hands-on support. Passion and energy are as important as curiosity and forward thinking. You will ensure the function develops new product features and operates services that are secure, responsive, scalable, highly available and resilient in the face of failure. An articulate thought-leader with strong technology experience you’ll be taking current systems and technology to the next level. Regular global travel is required.

The key responsibilities of the role, are as follows:

• To develop and implement strategic and tactical IT plans, in support of the company’s business plan and long-term goals and objectives
• To direct the operations of the Information Technology department, including the systems development, application support, computer operations, PC and network support functions
• To identify innovative technology-related opportunities for delivering the company’s services by understanding technology trends and applying them
• To identify competitive advantages and technological trends for the benefit of a company
• To ensure sufficient resources are obtained and maintained to minimize disruption of business operations dependent on technology
• To optimize the platform with regards to security, reliability, scalability and usability
• To evaluate new technology and make recommendations on technological solutions
• Ensure technologies are used efficiently, profitably and securely
• Track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics
• To be responsible for planning, managing and directing IT projects, ensuring projects are completed on time and to budget, are adequately tested and documented, implementation and training appropriately planned and coordinated, and the end product meets the company’s needs

Requirements

In order to apply for this role, you must have the following:
• A minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience in Information Technology with 2 years at a Senior Leader Level in a medium sized business
• Experience gained in SAAS environments and strong core skills and abilities across; Java, JavaScript, C, Linux/Unix
• An understanding of RESTful techniques, API and micro services patterns, virtualization, containerization and public cloud services
• Deep understanding of latest architectural patterns and cloud technologies and tools
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with an eye towards delivering solutions quickly and efficiently
• Strong understanding of technology, but with the ability to effectively translate technical terminology and concepts into language understandable by non-technical individuals
• Entrepreneurial outlook, with energetic and positive approach
