Chief Transport Planning Advisor

Job description / Role

My client, a large public sector organization, are currently looking for a Chief Transport Planning Advisor. This is a permanent position based in Dubai, UAE.

The overall purpose of the role will be to provide expert advice on traffic control and management issues, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and future trends and technological advances. You will be responsible for providing initiatives to ensure Dubai are at the global forefront in relation to traffic operation and management optimization, transport technology and smart mobility.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in a field related to traffic control and Intelligent Transportation Systems from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience covering all fields of Traffic Engineering, traffic management and control, and ITS.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Preferably fluent in Arabic (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Excellent knowledge of traffic control and management, ITS and advanced traffic/transportation technologies, applications and software.
• Have demonstrated technical competence in the design and documentation of traffic control and management and ITS fields
• Working experience in Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore. Knowledge of US , European and Far East Asia ITS standards
• Proven experience in the design, operation, configuration and validation of Urban Traffic Control Systems including SCOOT system
• Knowledge and experience in using ITS in event management and incident management
• Familiar with a wide range of ITS technologies, including traffic management systems, VMS, AFC, CCTV, RTPI, AV, CV, V2V, V2I, toll collection, etc.
• Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Deep strategic thinker and with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.
• Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.
