We currently have an opportunity within SPIE Oil & Gas Services Middle East LLC for a Civil Supervisor.

Job purpose:
This position is a unique opportunity for you to work on DEWA Substations Projects and be responsible for supervising the departmental/contracts site cabling works, duct sealing, and reinstatement works of 132kV substations in order to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion of projects.

Your main duties will be to:

• Internal coordination: Attend sectional meetings and meetings with other departments of DEWA to resolve works related issues and to achieve efficient work planning and execution.
• Reinstatement works: Perform day-to-day activities such as backfilling and civil reinstatement works of High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) cable installation projects done by contractors by prioritizing and removing constraints. Contribute to the achievement of unit level KPIs.
• Duct sealing: Assist in managing and monitoring the progress of duct sealing of cable entries in 132kV substations to ensure works are done as per stipulated standards and relevant regulations.
• External coordination: Assist in coordinating with Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Etisalat, private developers, contractors, consultants, etc., for efficient management of civil works of cable laying projects.
• Road cutting: Assist in supervising cutting of roads by contractors for installation of new ducts.
• MDP foundations: Assist in supervising the process of manufacturing of MDP foundations.
• Horticulture reinstatement: Assist in removal and reinstatement of horticulture and irrigation lines by contractors to facilitate cable laying.
• Certification: Assist in obtaining completion certificates for works done by contractors from local authorities such as Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, etc. Assist in certifying site measurements of contractors' works, invoices, and work completion reports.
• Site visits: Conduct regular site visits to confirm progress of works and solve any issues that may arise. Prepare daily reports and submit the same to Unit Head and Section Head.
• Confidentiality: Ensure non-disclosure of confidential information to anyone within or outside the Authority, during or after employment in DEWA.
• Safety: Follow and adhere to the OH&S Management System Manual as per DEWA's safety standards.
• Others: Perform other job-related duties as required.

Profile

Ideally, you will have a degree in civil engineering discipline from a recognized university with 5 years experience on the construction of substations and associated cable laying works for major power distribution projects.

Minimum 3 years of experience in backfilling and civil reinstatement HV and LV cabling works by contractors, duct sealing of cable entries in 132kV substations, and MDP manufacturing works in coordination with consultants, contractors, and private developers with the objective to achieve cable laying targets.

• You will preferably have previous work experience in a GCC country. Experience working in UAE is an advantage.
• You will have proven experience in safety precautions and occupational hazards in the use of equipment; safe work methods and practices.
• You will have a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in power industry software and systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
• You will need good communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal.
