Mediclinic Middle East is hiring a Clinical Coding Manager. The Coding Manager should have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet timeline constraints. The Coding Manager should also be willing to travel to conduct coding audit and training across Mediclinic hospitals and clinics.

Key responsibilities
• Supervises and performs a wide range of activities pertaining to the review and coding of inpatient and outpatient medical record information.
• Establishes, implements and maintain a formalized review process for coding compliance, including a formal review (audit) process; designs and uses audit tools to monitor the accuracy of clinical coding.
• Performs data quality reviews on inpatient and outpatient records to validate the accuracy of diagnosis, procedure codes and DRG groups assigned and ensures compliance with all coding guidelines and outpatient reporting requirements are met.
• Creates and monitors inpatient case mix reports and the top DRG’s in the facility to identify patterns, trends and variations in the facility’s frequently assigned DRG groups; investigates and evaluates potential causes for changes or problems; takes appropriate steps in collaboration with the right staff to effect resolution or explain variances.
• Continuously evaluates the quality of clinical documentation to identify incomplete or inconsistent document for inpatient and/or outpatient encounters that impact the code selection and resulting DRG groups and payment; brings concerns to the attention of the Health Information Manager for resolution.
• Provides or arranges for training of facility healthcare professionals in the use of technical coding guidelines and practices, proper documentation techniques, medical terminology and disease as they relate to the regulations.
• Maintains knowledge of current and required coding certifications as appropriate; may perform the most technical complex and difficult coding and abstraction work.
• Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the regulatory bodies; reports areas of concern to the Health Information Manager.
• Demonstrates and maintains competency in the use of computer applications, particularly the coding and abstracting software and hardware currently in use by the Health Information Management and Data Analytics.
• Review, recommends and implements standardized, organization-wide coding guidelines and documentation requirements in line with the DHA and HAAD regulations; develop and implement training and educational programs for physicians and coders.
• Collects and prepares data for studies involving inpatient stays and outpatient encounters for clinical evaluation purposes; prepares and maintains a variety of complex records and reports.
• Closely work with Clinical Documentation Improvement department in sharing the knowledge and in collaborative trainings of Coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Medicine/ Nursing / Health Information Management / Information Technology / Health Data Analytics. Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA .Experience in DRG is highly recommended.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in coding and clinical documentation improvement area.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare organizations in GCC.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 CM/CPT coding.
• Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes.
• Knowledge of reimbursement system and coding structures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent critical thinking skills.
