Job description / Role

• Work collaboratively with other health disciplines and departments to optimize nutrition care and patient experience
• Initiate nutrient intake assessments; assess patients for signs and symptoms of nutritional deficiencies; evaluate appropriate fluid and electrolytes; review laboratory and clinical progress notes; inform physicians of patients' nutritional status and need for changes in diet, enteral or parenteral feeding; develop care plans, documentation and reassessments
• Monitor patients nutritional status and response to therapy and modify care plans as necessary
• Provide counseling and education services to patients with various disease states that require nutritional management
• Identify and provide age-specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of patients and their families
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects, and be part of accreditation and regulatory readiness and review
• Develop, review, update and implement educational materials to meet the needs of patients
• Correlate dietary plans with other health care team members and develop discharge plans in tandem with other disciplines
• Participate in program development designed to market and expand departmental services
• Inspect meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance
• Organize, develop, analyze, test, and prepare therapeutic menus
• Analyze and update menu cycles for the facility
• Calculate or supervise calculation of calorie and nutrient intake counts and recipe nutrient analysis
• Act as a resource for the food service department (e.g. conducting in-services)

Requirements

• Bachelors degree (minimum 4 year course) in Nutrition, Dietetics or a closely related field
• 3-5 years work experience in field of expertise
• A current license, registration or certificate to practice
• Ability to be licensed with Dubai Health Care City /DHA
• A minimum of 3 years experience as a Dietician/Nutritionist
• Experience providing dietetic services in an acute care facility (hospital experience preferred)
