Commercial and Operations Director

This is a newly created regional role to add immediate impact as our AIME ( Asia, India, Middle East ) region evolves toward a culture that is collaborative, client-centric, innovative and commercially focussed.

This is a career defining opportunity to work closely with the regional and global leadership teams and other key stakeholders within BuroHappold to drive our competitive advantage by understanding and influencing global trends for our industry, sector, clients, technology markets and competitors.

Establish and chair AIME ‘Commercial Executive’ with responsibility for;
- Regional management of bid and proposal process
- Oversight of contract negotiation, management and completion to achieve the result outcome for the company, and intervening in the final stage of dispute resolution where necessary
- Oversee critical project commercial performance and implementation
- Manage go/no process and proposals for new market entry
- Provide commercial overview and accountability for the AIME portfolio of projects
- Lead by example providing commercial leadership to AIME Leaders through regular team and 1:1 meetings
- Set challenging goals in order to complete ambitious projects
- Oversee operational aspects of financial reporting through working closely with AIME Financial Controller
- Utilise and encourage the best use of project performance tools and information to ensure that progress is maintained in line with planned milestones and outcomes
- Manage organisational risk within BH governance rules
- Review regional resourcing in consultation with the Engineering Services Leaders and develop relationships with other regions
- Responsible for Health & Safety, Compliance and driving of best practice throughout the region

Requirements

- A commercially astute business leader with proven skills in complex, international, matrixed business operations
- Proven experience operating at a strategic leadership level and with hands-on operational experience within the built environment, engineering or construction sector
- Outstanding interpersonal, networking and stakeholder management skills with ability to enable change and drive business improvement
- Excellent commercial acumen and business gravitas
- Demonstrated ability to concurrently and effectively manage multiple projects and business challenges
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to interact knowledgeably with and impact both internal and external parties
- The ability to inspire and mentor and partners, peers, teams and individual employees within the organisation
- An influencer able to hold team members accountable for delivering high quality work by providing a ‘big picture’ view of their work to local team members aligned with regional and firm-wide objectives
