Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Leading Design and engineering consultancy in Dubai seek a Commercial Bid/Proposals Manager to join their existing Commercial team in Dubai, working alongside another Commercial Manager and reporting into the Finance Director.
• Reporting to the Finance Director the Commercial Manager will assist with a wide range of Commercial activities, including corporate governance, contracting, and the development of fee proposals and overseeing management of proposals and contracts.
• The Commercial Manager will be based in the UAE, which will be the primary focus, but will also be involved with special projects across Europe & Asia as the business requires.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for bid management from the initial tender enquiry throughout the complex bid process and submission to the final contract negotiation and contract acceptance.
• Analyse the commercial requirements of each tender enquiry, understand and clearly communicate them to the commercial team and ensure that the Group’s commercial terms and conditions are protected
• Understand, and implement the bid writing process to ensure that all colleagues observe and follow the process.
• Serve as the commercial bid expert for the team and ensure proposals are compliant and responsive.
• Apply sound project management techniques to the bid development and management process to ensure that the commercial bids are produced in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner for submission,
• Manage the commercial liaison between the bid team and Executive team for bid signoff responsibility.
• Manage and distribute the weekly bid register status report that details the entire Group’s bidding activity.
• Work with the Commercial Manager and Finance Director to improve the commercial proposal templates and ensure their use across the organization.
• Participate in client bid meetings and ensure that relevant team members attend all such meetings.
• Understand and design new and improved bidding processes and systems, drive these improvements across the organisation and continuously review and amend them from a best practice perspective.
• Ensure that the writing, graphics and visual presentation of each bid are always best practice.

Requirements

• The successful candidate should ideally possess;
• B.A. or B.Sc. in Business, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or similar.
• A minimum of 10 years business experience with at least 5 years in a similar role with commercial exposure, experience and interaction with clients, ideally in the Middle East
• Excellent reading, writing, presentation and verbal communications skills in English,
• Core competencies in all Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Project. Adobe InDesign advantageous.
• The ability to work in a fast moving environment and the willingness to work appropriate hours in often distant locations in order to complete the job while maintaining the Group’s bidding standards.
• The understanding and knowledge of multi-discipline Engineering sectors, services and client profiles.
• The ability to effectively plan, organise, manage and execute the roles and responsibilities using sound business practices.
• The experience of managing and working with teams based in multiple locations and countries.
• Working with complex Excel workbooks and formulas.
• Strong professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels within the firm. • Must be highly proficient in both spoken and written English. Full professional efficiency at minimum.
• Professional and hard-working. Detail-oriented, well-organised, and able to multi-task + prioritise. Uses initiative, takes ownership and is self-sufficient. Ability to manage deadlines under pressure and able to work overtime on an adhoc-basis, if required to deliver to project deadlines

Desirable
• Experience within the architecture / engineering sector or construction industry.
