Job description / Role
ROLE SUMMARY
The Communication lead will perform various assignments independently that require thorough knowledge of communication techniques, methods and processes. The main objective of this role is to ensure employees are kept informed and motivated by communicating through several channels
ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures & programs
• Manage internal communications (memos, newsletters etc.)
• Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce copy for advertisements or articles
• Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
• Use social media to communicate with staff internally
• Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
• Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
• Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation
• Advise senior executives of developments throughout the organisation, either face to face or through regular written communication
• Exercises sound judgment when communicating with internal and/or external clients or customers.
• Uses multiple channels or means to communicate important messages (e.g., memos, newsletters, meetings, electronic mail).
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree; master's degree often preferred
• Experience which demonstrates knowledge of HR functions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
• Proficient command of English
• Proven experience as communications specialist
• Experience in web design and content production is a plus
• Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication will be an asset
• Ability to identify and adjust tone to shape messages for targeted audiences
• Understanding of change communication best practices
• Ability to create content that makes an emotional connection with target audience
