Job description / Role
We are seeking a Compliance Officer to provide risk and compliance support to the Dubai office and the firms' Global Risk & Compliance function with the implementation, management and oversight of risk and compliance systems, procedures, controls and policies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Primary contact for day to day Anti-Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing ("AML & CTF") matters arising in the Dubai office;
• Provide support to an international office in relation to the day to day AML & CTF matters as required;
• Primary responsibility for the review and approval of all initial and on-going Client Due Diligence ("CDD") requirements for clients and providing assistance to fee-earners with the completion of their CDD obligations;
• Filing of all CDD related documentation and correspondence in compliance document management system in a timely manner and update all relevant note fields in the database;
• Conduct World Check and other searches against existing and prospective clients as well as all related parties as required;
• Review risk assessments to ensure appropriate risk rating and proper escalation to senior management in high risk scenarios;
• Assist with the maintenance of compliance related documentation which includes (but not limited to) AML manuals, policies, procedures and templates which are stored in the Risk & Compliance section of the intranet as requested;
• Provide advice to the Dubai offices on the application of relevant legal and regulatory requirements relating to AML, CTF, Anti Proliferation financing and all applicable sanctions;
• Assist with Risk & Compliance ad-hoc projects as required;
• Assist with the provision of Compliance Training, Compliance Updates and Compliance support to all staff of the Dubai office as required;
• Provide assistance with on-going monitoring procedures which include testing of reliance on third parties and other risk and compliance audits as necessary.
Other:
• Attend meetings as requested;
• Carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose of the job, including the performance of duties outside normal working hours when required;
• Work in a flexible manner and respond to changing circumstances and emergency situations;
• Provide ad-hoc support to Compliance Teams in Europe and the Americas when necessary;
• Complete any other duties as requested.
Salary:
AED
21,000 to 23,500
per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of three years' experience in Compliance or AML & CTF function / role preferably gained in a law firm or equivalent AML & CTF compliance function in a financial institution or regulatory authority.
• Practical knowledge and experience of AML & CTF procedures, controls and policies within a regulated and international organisation.
• Excellent knowledge of Cayman and British Virgin Islands AML & CTF requirements.
• Experience of providing support to colleagues and clients in an international environment and on a non-face to face basis.
• Computer literacy a must – including MS Office (any compliance specific software a plus).
• Understanding of offshore legal structures is essential.
• Business/Legal or related third level graduate or equivalent in experience.
