Job description / Role
An international energy trading firm, with trading centers in Dubai, Singapore, London, and Geneva, are recruiting for a Compliance Officer to help establish, and oversee, a compliance function for their physical oil and energy trading business.
This is a newly created role, which has been created as a result of the firms continued growth into new markets and increasing trade volumes. Whilst the preference is that the role will be based in Dubai, it can be based in any of their trading centers for the right candidate. Travel will be required occasionally to other locations.
The role:
• Monitor all regulatory risks, sanctions, MAR compliance matters, etc. which may impact trading business
• Operate as key point of contact internally to provide guidance to traders and front office
• Develop, oversee, and maintain a compliance, trade surveillance, and ethics programme across the business.
• Work with senior management and colleagues to embed a compliance culture throughout organization
Requirements
The candidate:
• Minimum of 5 years experience in compliance for a physical oil and energy trading business
• Sound knowledge of sanctioned corporate entities, governments, and countries
• Able to work with senior stakeholders across multiple locations, with experience working to advise and enable traders whilst also maintaining adherence to compliance
• Degree level education, preferably with a professional compliance qualification
• Self starter, able to build a new function from scratch
• Fluent English, additional languages beneficial but not essential
