Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Manage the project controls department comprising of contract administrators, quantity surveyors, planners, cost engineers, document control and procurement.
- Managing and overseeing the consultants and contractors cost control procedures throughout the duration of the project
- Managing and implementing all required cost control and audit procedures for all Project Cost Control activities designed to measure the project status.
- Assessing, evaluation and making recommendations related to any financial claim and providing the necessary input with regards to the contracts in place.
- Evaluation of all variations, additional works, field changes, additions and omission, and incorporation of the same with the Monthly Cost reports.
- Preparing and pricing Change Orders and negotiating agreement with the Contractor / Consultants as necessary.
- Reporting on contractual and financial matters related to all consultancy /contracting companies within the organisation, including procurement strategies and monthly financial reports.
- Liaising with the legal department on all legal matters concerning the contracting organisations.
- Liaising with senior representatives of third party, project management, consultant, main contractor and subcontractor organisations.
- Review and verify all contract documentation between the consultancy /contracting companies and any other party, including Joint Venture Agreements, Memorandums of Understanding etc.
- Developing, implementing and monitoring monthly cost control mechanisms, including financial statements and document control procedures.
- Forming claims strategies for the consultancy/contracting companies in consultation with the respective senior management.
- Preparation of select contractual correspondence to protect the various company interests.
- Reviewing and verifying all contract documentation between the contracting companies and any third party.
- Review and verify correctness and suitability of outside consultant produced contracts
- Facilitate Value Engineering Workshops at design and construction phases.
- Manage Quantity Surveyors on take offs of multi-dicisipline design quenitities (Bills of Qauntities – BOQ)

Requirements

- Degree in Quantity Surveying
- At least 15 years’ experience as a QS/Contracts Manager.
- Member of a professional body such as MRICS
- Experience working in both consultancy and contracting within the hospitality sector would be a huge advantage.
- A strong understanding of prime and subcontracts.
- Strong technical and practical understanding of engineering, procurement and construction.
- Experience developing contracts administration policies and procedures
- Cost and contract management experience within a relevant field or sector; ideally the FIDIC or NEC form of contracts.
- Good understanding of project financial management principles with cost estimating, forecasting and reporting experience
- Project planning and scheduling experience with the capability to recognise key cost and schedule drivers within complex multi-contract projects
- Highly proficient with MS Excel and knowledgeable with a planning tool such as MS Project or Primavera
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
