Contract Paralegal

Job description / Role

We are representing a leading global bulk physical trading house specializing in steel sector trading. We are currently seeking an experienced Paralegal to join their team in Dubai. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional with expertise in contract and document checking within the commodities trading industry. The Paralegal will play a vital role in supporting their operations and will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough and meticulous reviews of contracts and legal documents related to commodities trading.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations in all trading activities.
- Identify potential legal risks and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including traders, finance, and operations teams, to ensure legal requirements are met.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and legal correspondence.
- Research and stay up to date with industry-specific legal developments, regulations, and best practices.
- Liaise with external legal counsel as necessary and manage relationships with external stakeholders.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to internal teams on day-to-day operational matters.
- Support the resolution of legal disputes and assist in the negotiation and settlement of claims.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal documentation and records.

Requirements

Requirements:
- 10-20 years of experience as a Paralegal, with a focus on contract and document checking within the commodities trading industry.
- Extensive knowledge of the commodities trading industry, preferably in thermal coal and petcoal.
- Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to commodities trading.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential legal risks.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic trading environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
- Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
