Copy Writer/ Proof Reader/ Translator

Job description / Role

Our client, a fast-growing Marketing and Printing house is currently looking for a competent Copy Writer/ Proof Reader/ Translator to be based in Dubai.

In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:
• Correcting spelling, punctuation, grammar, style and checking typographical errors;
• Ensuring consistency throughout the document text, particularly in relation to the use of capitalisation, hyphenation and spelling, also check for consistencies in relation to the design;
• Checking that the correct captions have been included with any illustrations of photos (Photos and illustrations are correctly captioned);
• Page numbers, headings and captions are correct;
• Review the overall aesthetics of each page to ensure that it is well presented and logically arranged;
• Writing clear, persuasive, original copy;
• Amending, revising or redeveloping adverts or campaigns in response to feedback from the creative director, account team or clients;
• Work alongside with the art director within the creative department;
• Creating slogans, tagline, catchphrases, messages and strap-lines for printed adverts and leaflets. They are also involved in writing text for web advertising, as well as scripts for radio jingles and TV commercials;
• May measure dimensions, spacing, and positioning of page elements to verify conformance to specifications, using printer's ruler;
• Convert written documents from one language into another (Arabic to English, English to Arabic);
• Proofreading and editing final translated versions with a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version translated text;
• Ensure that translations retain the content, meaning, and feeling of the original material. Check translations of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation revisions;
• Compile terminology and information to be used in translations, including technical terms and building his own data base;
• Follow ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information;
• Discussing and resolving any potentially libellous sections with the management and designers;
• Oversee the overall contents and preface of all printing nor advertising material;
• Overseeing the work of indexers, typesetters and designers;
• prioritising work to meet deadlines.

Requirements

• Arabic Native Language.
• Have a strong and dependable English/Arabic Grammar, with excellent spelling ability.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the UAE as Copy Writer/ Proof Reader/ Translator (Arabic to English/English to Arabic).
• Proven working experience as a Copy Writer/ Proof Reader/ Translator.
• Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
• Demonstrate dependability and self-motivation.
• Maintain high level of personal integrity and reliability.
• Valid professional UAE driving license is a PLUS.
