Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Support the Global Ophthalmics Team with development and implementation of Global Medical Plans in focus disease areas at a country level. This position will be responsible for managing the ophthalmics medical activities in the EAMEA Region.
• Within designated disease areas, systematically lead identification of the scientific exchange needs of Key Opinion Leaders, investigators and other stakeholders in patient care, establish strong professional relationships and provide credible scientific expertise
• Manage the disease area Medical Science Liaison team, if available, including managing definition and implementation of field activity plans
• Lead the design and implementation of best-in-class scientific programs with external KOLs, investigators and Global Medical Affairs and Global Clinical partners
• Lead specific projects per the Global Medical Plan
• Oversee and directly participate in responding effectively to requests for scientific exchange
• As delegated by the Global Franchise Head, serve and the Medical representative on cross-functional local and Global teams
• Support local team disease area and product knowledge through scientific training
• Maintain personal and medical team expertise in relevant disease areas and Medical best practices
• Support the Global Franchise Team in the launch preparation of the Region/ Country in order to ensure flawless communication, planning and launch execution with the local markets. In addition he/she will be a key contributor to the life cycle management activities post-launch in the various markets and will work closely with the respective local MA teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

Education And Experience Requirements
• A medical degree (MD) is strongly preferred; an advanced degree in life sciences is required.
• 8-10 years of experience in biopharmaceutical medicine, preferably within a matrix or franchise structure. Experience in medical affairs is preferred
• Experience in customer-facing roles is preferred
• Experience in ophthalmics is highly preferred

• Position is accountable to the Global Franchise Head
• Internal Collaboration: Compliance, Legal, Country HR, Country Commercial, Global Medical, Global Clinical
• External: Key opinion leaders, investigators, HCPs, patient advocacy groups, regional policy makers, etc.

Other Job Requirements
• Potential travel to International HQ, local and international congresses and in-country meetings
• Frequent travel to HCP locations – approximately 60% of time in field, nights and weekends possible
