Job description / Role
My client has an exciting and unique opportunity for Subject Matter Experts in the Customs Domain to be based offshore in locations such as Mali, Ghana, The Dominican Republic and Tanzania on a long term multi million dollar transformation programme.
Your new role
You will be responsible for supporting transformation projects by providing domain specific expertise and knowledge as part of an in country project team.
Project delivery will involve implementing the new operating model adapted to meet the needs of the local environment and legislation.
The business system will involve whole of organisation change recognising World Trade Organisation supported principals, guidelines and conventions. This will mean in most cases the implementation of a paper free, intelligence enabled, information managed organisation using the relevant developed processes and technologies.
Some of, but not all of your responsibilities will include:
- Primarily being based offshore for extended periods of time
- Able to establish and maintain credible relationships with Heads of Government Departments, politicians, corporate leaders, owners and operators of large, medium and small enterprises, with a specific focus on operational managers and line staff from within the client Customs administration
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of organisational transformation and methodologies required to make that happen
- Able to demonstrate understanding of the logistics supply chain and the role that Customs plays in that supply chain
- Able to demonstrate competency in one or more Customs Domains, and, give confidence to local staff of skills and knowledge in the domain(s)
- Able to lead, mentor, motivate and guide people they work with, particularly nationals from the client country
Requirements
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a proven track record of participating in large transformation projects at offshore sites as a subject matter expert with proven experience in one or more Customs domains, and proven experience in transformation project methodology related to the activities of process mapping “as-is” and “to-be”.
- Knowledge of the logistics supply chain, and working with regulatory agencies
- Knowledge of the information model that supports the logistics supply chain
- Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience as an off shore subject matter expert
- Demonstrated experience in successfully completing projects on time, within scope and budget.
- Having experience in whole of organisation Customs transformation projects will be an advantage
