Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Data Analyst will report to the Regional Chief Operating Officer, but will work closely with the Company’s Finance and Strategic Planning and Execution Departments to import (including gathering qualitative information), validate, organize, analyze or model operating and financial performance data from each of dipndip’s cafes. The purpose is to understand and draw conclusions from the data and information gathered in order to drive operational decision-making and in-turn sales growth within each of our franchisees’ cafes. Specifically the Data Analyst’s main responsibilities will include the following:

General Responsibilities
• Gathering on a daily basis café operating and financial data from our franchisees’ cafes
• Gathering on a daily basis findings form our customer surveys that are deployed at the cafes
• Communicating on a regular basis with our internal franchisee support teams and at times directly with our franchisees to gather qualitative data that is more difficult to measure but that can impact café performance
• Presenting on a daily basis to senior management café operating and financial performance data in charts, graphs and tables
• Drawing well thought out conclusions from the analysis of the data gathered
• Designing and developing new reporting templates to better understand and utilize the data in the day-to-day operations and decision-making
• Evaluating data analytics software solutions that our Company may consider implementing or optimizing (in the case of existing software that dipndip already uses)
• Working closely with our IT department to ensure that our Company’s systems are continuously linked with those of our franchisees, such that the operational and financial performance data from our franchisees is imported without interruptions or gaps
• Quickly identifying any gaps in the data, should there be any, and resolve them through communication with our IT department and with our franchisees

Projects and Initiatives
• Working on multiple special projects, such as evaluating the performance of new menu items or new initiatives that are deployed at our franchisees’ cafes. This includes evaluating the impact from the introduction of new menu items or new initiatives on the following:
• Cafe sales, guest counts and average checks
• Incremental café sales, guest counts and average checks
• New menu items gross margins
• Labor costs related to new menu items or new initiatives
• Capital costs to implement new menu items or new initiatives strategies, and the incremental costs to implement new menu items or initiatives (i.e., advertising, utilities, other)
• Return on investment of new menu items or new initiatives
• Assisting the Regional Chief Operating Officer on other related functions as determined by the Regional Chief Operating Officer

Requirements

• Bachelors of Science or similar degree in a data analytics or related field
• 2-3+ years of data analytics experience
• Strong financial acumen and financial analysis experience
• Work experience in the Restaurant Franchising and/or Restaurant-related Hospitability industries preferred
• Strong Analytical Skills, with the ability to gather and analyze effectively large amounts of data, facts, figures and qualitative information
• Strong Communication Skills, enabling the Data Analyst to communicate effectively his/her findings with senior management, team members and franchisees
• Attention to Detail, since the conclusions drawn from the data analysis will drive critical departmental initiatives and operating decisions
• Math Skills, which include an understanding of statistical methods
• Advanced Excel Skills
• Programming and IT Skills, allowing the Data Analyst to understand programming logic, although no experience with a specific programming language is required
• Overall Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have strong analytical skills and an understanding of system databases, data elements, and application software solutions to maximize data gathering and data analysis
• Must be comfortable handling a variety of responsibilities under pressure
• Must be able to function independently
