Job description / Role
Job Purpose:
The objective of the role is to lead all wide data governance activities and to establish and ensure adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection.
This is a strategic role that aims to improve data quality and protect sensitive data, and will require change and project management experience to elicit modifications to organization behaviors and processes.
Key Accountabilities:
• Refine and implement the data governance framework which includes data architecture, data quality management, metadata management and business definitions, reference and master data management, data classification and data security.
• Develop data governance policies and guideline documents (such as data lifecycle plan, data classification policy, data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements) for business and IT personnel and ensure approval in line with the requirement.
• Develop and maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps in the digital Model.
• Propose solutions (process changes, new software implementation) that improves data quality.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, data standards, structures and functions as well as the user experience.
• Define enterprise wide roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability.
• Proactively and confidently engage with business users and conduct stakeholder meetings to drive the completion of the business terms, data catalog, data dictionary and data lineage.
• Serve as a liaison between business users and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
• Define performance indicators and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
• Compile reports on analytical and operational data and report metrics to senior management.
• Engage business intelligence developers and data integrators and identify risks and opportunities to increase data quality.
• Manage and execute cross functional data governance projects.
• Lead migration efforts from Informatica to Azure Data Catalogue and Azure Data Factory.
Customer Excellence:
• The delivery of regular updates and on the issues affecting data integrity and remediation solutions.
• Working closely with stakeholders and promoting the concepts of data stewardship amongst business users.
People Excellence:
• The ability to communicate clearly, confidently and effectively to internal stakeholders.
• Capable of building and leading a team of data governance officers.
• The ability coordinate between departments to execute cross functional projects and/or strategies.
Requirements
Experience Required:
• 5+ years’ experience in a data governance role.
• Demonstrated experience of planning and implementing an enterprise wide data governance strategy.
• Demonstrated project management and change management experience.
• Experience in writing and organizing formal documents such as governance policies and guidelines.
• Experience is managing and facilitating stakeholder meetings focused on achieving results and consensus.
Education Requirement:
• BS Degree in a relevant discipline (C.S., CIS, MIS, etc).
Knowledge & Skills:
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with Data Quality and MDM solutions.
• Experience with relational databases like Oracle and MPP databases (Teradata, Greenplum, Netezza) is required.
• Experience with data integration Tools (i.e. Datastage, Informatica, Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Catalogue, etc).
• Strong team skills with proven ability to work collaboratively.
• Results orientated.
