Data Scientist

Job description / Role

Charterhouse is working with a stealth mode public sector organisation who is looking to hire a Data Scientist to join their rapidly growing team. As a Data Scientist you will report to the Head of Data Science.

You will identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes, undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data and analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns. You will also build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms, combine models through ensemble modeling and present information using data visualization techniques. In addition, you will use proposing solutions and strategies to solve business challenges as well as collaborate with engineering and product development teams and proactively advise on best practices. You will also assist in the budgeting process.

Requirements

The successful candidate should have experience working with educational data sets as well as experience in building state of the art text mining pipeline to work with unstructured data. You should have knowledge of machine learning algorithms and data mining techniques in one or more areas of predictive modelling, text mining, information retrieval, time series analysis and statistical modelling. You should be able to collaborate with a cross-functional team including data scientists and software engineers and be passionate about data with the desire to apply machine learning techniques to solve real world problems which will make a lasting impact on society. Additionally, you should have knowledge of the most important libraries for NLP and experience with machine learning frameworks such as Theano and Tensorflow. Desirable programming skills include Python, Java and Scala.
