Wood is currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in Sharjah, UAE

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Objective:
- Analyzes data to draw insights, patterns and conclusions that will enable the business to improve their products, services, processes or to develop new strategies.
- Must be adept at handling large, complex datasets and developing and applying robust analytical processes including data cleaning, data interpretation models, forecasting, pattern identification and trend analysis.
- Performs descriptive statistics and analysis to develop insights, build models and solve business needs.

Key Accountabilities:
- Assist clients in using their data resources for creating value, enhancing competitiveness and driving business decisions.
- Develop solutions to optimize design, increase the safety, reliability, cost-efficiency and productivity of our customer's assets through the application of advanced analytics.
- Build strong relationships with your client counterparts and internal stakeholders through working collaboratively in multi-disciplined teams.
- Process and analyse a diverse dataset in order to draw out important insights and build machine learning models to solve typical problems encountered in the relevant industry sector.
- Combine domain knowledge and data access with advanced analytics to transform how we execute and operate projects, bringing truly differentiated services & software to industries we serve.
- Design, develop and deploy Machine Learning and Deep Learning models to solve business problems.
- Prototype and deploy web applications using high-level programming languages and applicable web development frameworks
- Participate in or lead requirement gathering sessions and validation of data modelling specification with clients
- Run advanced and predictive analyses and perform model assessments, validation, and enhancement activities, using predictive analytics' software tools and functionalities.
- Make recommendations to improve data and analytics systems and platforms, contributing to continuous improvement and refinement
- Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design
- Identify opportunities for innovation within client organizations where advanced analytics could dramatically improve operations. Pro-actively drive this innovation to realization and implementation.
- Participate in an Agile/Scrum methodology.
- Formulate new questions that need to be solved by the company in order to take better decisions.
- Develop and use interactive story-telling to communicate results with the team, internal and external.

Requirements:

- Degree in a data-oriented field like Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Economics or

Computer Science and / or a tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Civil/Structural or Process engineering. Knowledge, skills and experience:
- A holistic understanding of the systems and infrastructure used to build products will facilitate insight into how different factors influence operational metrics
- Experience working with large and complex data sets is required
- Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modelling skills
- Comfortable using, switching between and adapting to different development platforms, environments and enterprise data mining tools where required
- Experience in data visualization and implementing effective models/algorithms into a live solution is required
- Experience working with data and features derived from engineering/industrial sources
- Experience of text mining techniques and related solutions
- Experience in an asset intensive industry highly valued
- Strong working knowledge of statistical concepts such as regression, time series, mixed model, Bayesian, clustering to analyse data and provide insights
- Working knowledge of Neural Networks and Deep Learning
- Ability to apply modern machine learning/vision libraries
- Excellent communication capability both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate and communicate their insights to a non-technical audience.
- Effective interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team, and an ability to relate to those in a wide range of organization positions
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex problems and help identify practical and technically sound solutions
- Deep analytical skills and knowledge of statistical methodologies, data / text mining techniques, algorithm development, machine learning craft and operations research techniques
- Capable of clearly communicating complex analysis methodologies and results to a nontechnical audience within both internal and external customer bases
- Comfortable learning new technologies and working in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable with manipulating and combining large, high dimensional datasets from multiple sources
- Data mining technical knowledge and skills including decision trees, multivariate analysis, segmentation modelling, factor analysis, regression analysis, forecasting, natural language processing and machine learning.
- Knowledge of tools and methods including statistics, artificial intelligence and machine learning may be required.
- Ability to teach and coach others within level of technical know how
