At Amazon Supply Chain Middle East, we are forecasting, planning, and optimizing in real time the flow of millions of products and orders each day across the Middle East throughout our fulfillment network. We apply machine learning, operations research, and commons sense to large volumes of data and against a wide spectrum of problems. In particular, the Supply Chain Business Intelligence team is paving the way towards an optimized and automated planning and execution of Middle Eastern operations. This is a very exposed team at the cross-road between Retail, Operations, and Software Development.

A successful candidate will be a person who enjoys diving deep into data, doing analysis, discovering root causes, and designing long-term solutions. It will be a person who likes to have fun, loves to learn, and wants to innovate in the world of industry-AI.

You will
Interact with engineering, operations, BI and business teams to develop an understanding and domain knowledge of processes, system structures, and business requirements that you will leverage to build scalable mathematical models to derive optimal or near-optimal solutions. Design and develop complex mathematical, simulation and optimization models and apply them to define strategic and tactical needs and drive the appropriate business and technical solutions Ensure data quality throughout all stages of acquisition and processing, including such areas as data sourcing/collection, ground truth generation, normalization, transformation, Visualization, etc. Clean, analyze and select data to achieve goals. Build and release statistical models that elevate the customer experience and track impact over time. You maintain rigorous statistical standards and take ownership of the outcome your analyses suggest. When someone gives you a data source, you pepper them with questions about sampling biases, accuracy, and coverage. Present proposals and results in a clear manner backed by data and coupled with actionable conclusions.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors or Master Degree in Statistics, Economics, Operations Management, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field6+ years' experience in Data Analysis, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, or related technical field working as Research scientist/Data Scientist.

Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Statistics, Economics, Operations Management, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field Proven experience in building statistical models using R, Python or a related software with a willingness to learn and develop additional skills in statistical model, machine learning, and large-scale scientific computing. Practical experience in implementing optimization models and tools through the use of high-level modeling languages Track record of diving into data to discover hidden patterns and of conducting error/deviation analysis. High-level knowledge of various machine learning techniques and key parameters that affect their performance. Ability to communicate relevant scientific insights from data to senior business leaders, financial analysts, and product managers. Experience with large data sets, big data and analytics. Extensive theoretical statistical training, including the ability to carefully adapt/modify existing statistical tools to accommodate new applied use cases. Ability to distill problem definitions, models, and constraints from informal business requirements; and to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives. Prior background in machine learning and forecasting is a plus. Supply Chain operations planning and materials management experience and/or prior role in supporting supply chain business processes.
