• Be a subject matter expert on databases, particularly on relational databases, able to discuss with customers on database modelling, migration, performance testing, and day-to-day operations.
• Have wide-ranging experience with open source and commercial databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Be familiar with major cloud service providers for deploying workloads (AWS, Alicloud, GCP, Azure).
• Be a technical expert on all aspects of OceanBase (compatibility assessment, deployment, administration, development, migration).
• Facilitate introduction, discussion, and demonstration of OceanBase's technology, vision, and value proposition via individual or group sessions with customers.
• Engage and discover prospects' pain points, business and technical challenges, and identify how OceanBase can add value.
• Run proof of concept projects with customers to validate OceanBase's capabilities and support post-sale OceanBase implementation with the delivery team.
• Maintain deep understanding of competitive as well as complementary technologies and how to position OceanBase DB in relation to them.
• Provide guidance on how to resolve customer-specific technical challenges.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, and marketing to continuously improve OceanBase product and market position.

Job requirement

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, or a comparable field is preferred.
• Passion and energy to thrive in a dynamic, disruptive, fast-paced, and energetic environment.
• Strong communication skills and adaptability; able to communicate with customers independently, understand customer requirements, and propose technical solutions.
• More than five years' experience working with customers in a pre-sales or post-sales technical role. Ideally, 2+ years as a solution architect at an established database technology company or a company with mature cloud DB offering.
• Database administrator or architect prior experience preferred.
• Able to write, analyse, and optimize SQL, in particular MySQL and/or Oracle databases.
• Familiarity with mainstream database products, including Oracle, MySQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, Amazon Aurora, Google Spanner, and proficiency in at least one of them. Experience in one or more public cloud environments.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams including direct and channel marketing, solution architect teams, product management, and account management teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel for work; role covers ASEAN and beyond.
• Candidates should have native English proficiency. Basic Mandarin proficiency (speaking and reading) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Bonus: Application development experience in major languages (e.g. Java, Python, NodeJS, .NET).
• Bonus: Able to speak and read Chinese.
