Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to oversee the design process from concept to IFC delivery. The role requires a strong technical background, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsibility and accountability for design and technical detailing across all design stages, ensuring IFC delivery within the allocated timeline as per the contract.
• Proficient use of Revit, BIM360, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, and Adobe InDesign.
• Conduct design and constructability assessments, technical reviews, and QA/QC evaluations.
• Liaise with local authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review design reports, updating project specifications as necessary.
• Identify multi-disciplinary scope gaps & communicate them to the Project Director or commercial team.
• Assist the Project Director in preparing & finalizing the Design Management Plan & Project Execution Plan.
• Prepare or assist in preparing internal monthly progress reports.
• Arrange and lead internal coordination meetings.
• Assist in managing internal resources based on the project budget.
• Identify and assist in managing design-associated risks, mitigation strategies, and/or escalations.
• Manage stakeholder approvals for designs and samples, ensuring alignment with contract deliverables.
• Ensure consistency in design management across all project components and phases, adhering to U+A's design principles and ethos.
• Provide technical support to the commercial team, including attending contract meetings and presenting project dashboards, while consulting with Project Directors/Directors as needed.
• Manage the design process efficiently, addressing change requests and risks while ensuring the design remains within budget and serves stakeholders' interests.
• Ensure the design process aligns with current legislation, international standards, and codes of practice.
• Liaise with statutory authorities and relevant third parties.
• Manage internal and external tendering processes as per the procurement strategy.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in design management.
• Strong knowledge of Revit, BIM360, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, and Adobe InDesign.
• Experience with local authority regulations in the UAE.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
