Design Manager (Arch)

Job description / Role

Our Multi National Design & Engineering Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Design Manager to join their team in the UAE to work on new build projects in the Emirates and wider GCC. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Design Manager on residential, hospitality and commercial mixed use projects in the UAE and the wider GCC and a proven background working in a recognised PMC or Design Consultancy business.

This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with Company stakeholders, consultant and contractors
• Leading and managing the full design process up to IFC with international and local consultants
• Assessment and evaluation of design Consultants including; scope definition, contract management, budget stewardship as well as progress and variation monitoring according to the scope and contract.
• Managing and stewarding projects risks and key milestones to company’s stakeholders on regular basis.
• Review design documents throughout the different project stages, to make sure the design intent is well maintained up to construction
• Obtain stakeholders approvals on different design stages.
• Participate in establishing and implementing the Project Management Plan and / or Design Implementation Plan and procedures
• Monitoring the material selection, RFIs replies during the construction phases in coordination with the construction team to ensure applying the primary design intent
• Oversee and guide consultants design progress activities. Monitor and verify design progress and submittals at all design phases
• Oversee the implementation of design quality assurance, Value Engineering as well as completeness of design documents throughout all phases up to Construction Documents, in coordination with local/international consultants.
• Attend or chair meetings and / or workshops with consultants and contractors, review meeting minutes and follow up to achieve identified actions
• Organize/manage design review meetings, workshops and reports during design phases
• Aware of the local and international Fire life safety codes and regulations

Design Manager Experience:

• Bachelor of Architecture Degree and / or Master level qualification
• Membership of a professional Architectural Association such as RIBA and AIA is preferred.
• 10 years of previous experience gained within a Consultancy / Construction background in the Middle East and UAE is preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of the UAE legal and planning system with respect to architecture
• Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively
• Experienced in AutoCAD, Adobe, Revit and BIM implementation process

Salary:
AED 32,000 to 40,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
