Design Manager - Architecture + Masterplanning

Our client a leading real estate developer is seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager to join their Abu Dhabi office. With a diverse portfolio encompassing residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, they are committed to delivering projects of the highest quality and design excellence.

About the Role:

The Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the design process for a variety of prestigious projects, including villas, retail/hospitality developments, and masterplan communities. This role requires a strong architectural background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design Management: Lead and manage the design process for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to project briefs, budgets, and timelines.
* Concept Development: Oversee the development of innovative and creative design concepts, collaborating with architects, consultants, and other stakeholders.
* Design Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external design teams to ensure seamless integration of architectural, engineering, and interior design elements.
* Technical Review: Review and approve design drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.
* Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization throughout the design process.
* Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on design objectives and project progress.
* Project Monitoring: Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or delays, implementing corrective actions as needed.
* Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior design team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Architecture from a recognized university.
* Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in architectural design and project management, with a focus on villas, retail/hospitality, and masterplan developments.
* Proven track record of successfully managing complex design projects from concept to completion.
* Strong understanding of local regulations, building codes, and permitting processes in Abu Dhabi.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).
* Strong leadership and team management skills.

Desired Skills:

* Experience working with international design consultants.
* Knowledge of sustainable design principles and LEED certification.
* Experience in BIM and digital project delivery.
