Design Manager - Interior

Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Job Objective:
The Design Manager - Interior is responsible for the overall construction of interior projects assigned. Must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with design professionals, consultants and client while successfully directing other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule and budget. Shall closely work with the prime consultant for the project.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review the interior plans and specifications and comment on the design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential design problems that may arise.
- Knowledgeable about current market trends, fashion and social trends relating to home furnishing and interior designs.
- Create design specifications and work with other departments for pricing, safety and delivery assurance.
- Work with other departments and marketing to fit interior design strategy to the company's vision.
- Incharge of making important decisions regarding project design based on interior design knowledge and requirements.
- Follows strict safety procedures when modifying existing interior construction. Must have an advanced understanding and knowledge related to construction techniques.
- Responsible for directing design duties in interior spaces for the project involved.
- Responsible for deciding on and managing the furniture and interior fitting packages that will be utilize. Also responsible for completing site surveys, field verification and test fit plans.
- Actively participate in budgeting and scheduling design tasks, develop strong business relationships with customers and outside partners and ability to use design software to preview interior design changes before they are completed in order to reach all project goals in a timely manner.
- Must have a strong interpersonal skills to convey design ideas to the Management, clients and vendors.
- Oversee upgrades and changes in design strategy and must pay close attention to details and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage a design team (i.e. interior) with a collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships for both internal and external factors as well as ensuring a high-quality design standard.
- Advanced knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E), architectural / interior finishes, lighting, art signage, color and materials to carryout the required design intent for the project.
- Represent the company in the highest professional and ethical manner at all times.
- Setting schedules for the project and carry out research in order to make sure that interior plans are technically feasible.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Department Head.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture/Interior Design/Civil Engg or related discipline with UAE/GCC experience.

Minimum 15 years of experience with residential & commercial buildings, villas, beach/water front luxury developments, hospitality projects etc. and must have worked in a similar role with a leading organization.
