Desktop Support Specialist, Dubai, 4 Month Maternity Cover, 3 Days Per Week, 800-900 AED Per Day, Legal Firm, Urgent Role

Client is an award winning, international law firm with offices throughout the globe.

They require a 4 month maternity cover contractor, working 3 days per week, Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday. Hours will be 09:00-17:00 and may require some additional overtime in peak periods, which will be billed hourly.

Your new roles purpose is to provide first and second level end user support for all aspects of personal computer usage and firmwide IT/Telecom/AV equipment, focused on the Middle East region but with extended involvement in other International offices.

60% Customer Support:
• Primary focus on providing support to Middle East region as designated regional support key IT contact. Consisting of offices located in Dubai – UAE and Riyadh - KSA.
• Secondary focus on providing remote support to other locations as part of the International Support Group.
• Physically install new computer equipment or relocate existing equipment and test all functionality to ensure equipment is working properly. Make repairs as necessary.
• Troubleshoot issues arising from desktop thin client environment built on the Citrix XenApp platform.
• Work with off-site vendors to assist with systems repairs/maintenance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve complex issues that occur with firm desktop and laptop computers. Test to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
• Monitor daily virus / security alerts and other routine checks.
• Create and modify desktop environment on laptops for international offices.
• Prepare and test “check out” laptops with appropriate software.
• Monitor and troubleshoot applications that run using Microsoft SQL.
• Support and manage Blackberry and iOS deployments.
• Configure and troubleshoot remote access applications and assist customers over the telephone, remote control or via e-mail as necessary.
• Set up, test and support audio and video conferencing between firm offices and clients. This often involves contacting the technical support team and other parties to confirm arrangements.
• Responsible for maintaining equipment inventories at all times.
• Setup, modify and troubleshoot Cisco VOIP telephone system.

20% Technical Development
• Working with Network and Security teams to facilitate infrastructure changes, upgrades and troubleshooting of Cisco, EMC and Riverbed technologies.
• Manage application installations using NetInstall / SCCM type technology, environment variables and AD group membership.
• Create and maintain documentation of processes for products developed.
• PC and Wireless support for visiting attorneys and clients
• Support and troubleshoot firms printers (HP), multifunction devices (Cannon / Konica) and scanners (e-copy). Liaise with external vendors for repairs.

20% Operations
• Handle new joiner setup processes, including system deployment, account creation and testing.
• Track computer and printer inventory using Firm inventory management tool.
• Support call logging and tracking with internal incident management solution.
• Set up PCs for visiting Partners, associates and clients.
• Ongoing feedback and input into use of Middle East service providers.
• Direct involvement in region wide technology project initiatives.

Requirements

• University or trade school preferred; Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), A+ or NET+ certification desired. MCITP & ITIL certifications beneficial.
• 3 to 5 years minimal experience supporting professional user environment is required, preferably within a legal or corporate environment. Middle East experience is extremely beneficial. Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
• Strong working knowledge in Windows 7 and MS Office Suite, including but not limited to device management, registry, policies, services, user management.
• Strong technical and analytical skills and a strong understanding of technical concepts.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload is crucial. Individual must also have the ability to handle multiple tasks, work under pressure, make independent decisions, meet demanding deadlines under frequently changing conditions and priorities
• Strong knowledge of Outlook client.
• Thorough understanding of networking technology (in practice and conceptual), both in a local and wide area environment.
• Ability to support and troubleshoot remote access problems for travelling staff.
• Working knowledge of command line functions, batch files and scripts.
• Working knowledge of document management systems (iManage Worksite preferable).
• A practical understanding of Citrix XenApp / XenServer for delivery of remote access and application publishing.
• Thorough knowledge of wireless communications.
• Thorough knowledge of video and voice conferencing technology. Ability to setup and support video conferencing between firm offices and clients.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory.
• Strong knowledge of Blackberry and iOS technology.
• Strong knowledge of printers, multifunction devices, scanners and mobiles.
• Working knowledge of SCCM beneficial.
• Experience with an ITSM solution (HEAT, ServiceNow etc)
• Strong customer service orientation is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with end-users in order to explain functionality. Patience is critical.
• Ability to work under pressure in a professional environment.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• The nature of the position requires good written communication skills.
• Professional appearance and demeanour required.

In return this role will offer a negotiable salary of between 800 and 900 AED per month, potential hourly overtime in peak periods, Visa, Medical Insurance and holiday pay.

This role is initially due to last 4 months, but could be extended beyond 4 months.
