Job Description
The Director of Character and Values is an exciting lead role to inspire the development of character education, values-based learning, and positive education within Years 3-6, embedding core, British and Islamic values into the school's culture. The role encompasses strategic planning, pastoral support, enrichment activities, and collaboration with families and the wider community, ensuring students develop academically, socially and morally.
This pivotal role allows for the integration of values-driven education into every aspect of school life, ensuring students become confident, respectful and responsible global citizens.
Responsibilities
- Lead Character Education, Values-based Learning, and Positive Education across Years 3-6.
- Promote high standards of conduct, including uniform adherence, respectful transitions, etiquette and manners.
- Organise and deliver leadership workshops that empower students to grow as values-based leaders.
- Develop a culture rooted in core, British and Islamic values, fostering inclusivity and respect.
- Champion Family First initiatives, creating opportunities for intergenerational learning and family engagement.
- Plan activities and trips that align with character and values education.
Mastery
- Design and lead enrichment programmes that build confidence and communication skills through public speaking, debate, podcasting, journalism, and presentation opportunities.
- Encourage creativity and excellence through competitions, performances, and collaborative projects.
- Support staff development by providing training on embedding values and character education in teaching.
Service
- Promote service within the family, school, community, and globally through volunteer work and charity initiatives.
- Lead the Values in the Community programme, fostering civic responsibility.
- Build partnerships with local stakeholders, businesses and educational organisations.
Requirements:
Skills
- Qualifications: Degree-level qualification, QTS, and evidence of professional development in character education or leadership.
- Experience: Proven leadership in character education, values-based programmes or pastoral care. At least three years of middle leadership experience in primary.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to inspire and engage others, and expertise in programme development and community building.
