Director of Nursing

Job description / Role

Our client, a large healthcare provider is currently in need of a Director of Nursing who will be a part of the senior management team and an integral part of the hospital management.

Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible in planning, developing and supervising the activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel who provide health care and nursing services
• Responsible in the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures
• Responsible for selecting Nursing Department staff, completing employee appraisals and resolving problems involving employee disciplinary action.
• Administer, direct and coordinate activities of Patient Care within the department
• Retain the ultimate responsibility for the direction and evaluation of patient care delivery.
• Ensure the maintenance of operations within department, in collaboration with other service areas.
• Identify environmental hazards and eliminate and/or prevent where possible.
• Adhere to the ethical standards of the nursing profession.
• Recognize and value quality improvement activities to monitor and improve standards of nursing.
• Demonstrate accountability for communication, consulting and collaborating with other health professionals and health providers regarding activities of care planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
• Deliver excellence in customer service.
• Responsible for safety and comfort of patients, and the health and safety of employees assigned to the department.
• Maintain a professional appearance and acts as a role model to the staff.

Requirements

• Qualified Registered Nurse – Licensed as a Registered Nurse according to the UAE requirements. Licensed in the country of origin (as applicable)
• Masters in Nursing or Healthcare Administration is an advantage (extensive related work history with a relevant qualification will also be considered)
• General nursing experience of 15 years, of which a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role is essential
• Candidates with DHA / HAAD license preferred
• Relevant experience in a large or tertiary medical facility
• Track record of delivery in dynamic working environments
• Demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, hospital planning processes
• Demonstrated ability to develop, allocate, and track budgets for different departments
• Demonstrated professional maturity and decision-making abilities
• Able to promote excellence in patient care through mentoring and quality management.
• English language proficiency is a must and Arabic language skills would be definitely an advantage
