Hotel Overview:

Fairmont The Palm is a luxury, world-class resort located on the iconic Palm Jumeirah Island in Dubai. The hotel features 391 guest rooms and suites with dedicated Fairmont Gold rooms and lounge. A total of 11 food and beverage outlets on property offer international dining options including Little Miss India, Frevo - Brazilian Churrasco experience, Seagrill Bistro, Ba Restaurant and Lounge, Blowfish, Flow Kitchen, The Cigar Room, Vuvuzela and others. Fairmont The Palm also features an expansive pool and beach area with a health club, Willow Stream Spa and the Fairmont Falcons Kids' Club.

Director of Operations

Directly reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Operations will overlook the entire resort operations including Food & Beverage, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Kitchen & Stewarding, Health Club and Kids Club. He/she will maintain a consistent presence on the floor and will have a sharp eye for details. He/she will ensure that the strategy and vision set for all departments is followed and he/she will ensure that memorable service is always delivered.

Summary of Responsibilities:

- Developing the operations' strategy in order to provide innovative and exciting guest experiences that meet the business objectives
- Coordinating the organizational and administrative functions in all areas
- Monitoring the brand standards in all areas and ensuring that Managers take corrective actions as necessary
- Monitoring the activities and trends of competitor hotels and keep up to date with international trends in order to ensure the competitive advantage of the hotel
- Providing creative ideas to project and enhance the image of the hotel;
- Personally and frequently verifying that guests in the hotel are receiving the best possible service available in order to make continuous improvement
- To operate an efficient and accurate administration process in order to meet statutory, legal and internal requirements
- To conduct daily briefings in the absence of the General Manager to ensure that all departments receive updated information
- To attend all other meetings as required by the administration team
- To ensure and maintain good relations with members and suppliers
- To delegate and control the Departments expense budget throughout the year
- Control Payroll and Business Expenses of all departments reporting to him/her
- To prepare and derive the required operational cost for all departments reporting to him/her
- To ensure the preparation of management team duties
- To select suppliers with the most competent prices
- To ensure that the payroll doesn't not exceed the budget
- To set the profit margin targets and achieve them
- To analyze potential costs
- To consider aspects of re-investment
- To coordinate and manage pricing strategies
- To analyze the market needs and trends
- To contribute to Sales improvement
- To ensure improvement in productivity across the hotel
- To ensure maximum departmental profit is achieved
- To ensure regular upgrades of the resources of the departments reporting to him/her
- To monitor the operations to ensure the highest quality service at all times
- To oversee the that all guest rooms, public & back of the house areas including kitchen areas are well maintained and cleaned
- To maintain good will, sense of fairness and an open door policy towards all colleagues
- To monitor and check guests satisfaction
- To control operating costs
- To maintain highest standards of Hygiene and good Health and Safety Standards
- To implement a daily and monthly checklist for all departments.
- Ensure proper follow-up to attain maximum quality and efficiency
- To coordinate all sales activities which are conducted in area of responsibility
- To actively engage and participate in effective communications within the hotel
- To adhere to all the hotel standards and procedures at any given time
- Ensure that all Standards are being adhered to, by training all colleagues and monitoring their compliance
- To liaise with the General Manager and Cluster Director of Talent & Culture in matters relating to recruitment and disciplinary procedure
- To help the Talent & Culture Department select the right candidates from the market for the key positions
- To ensure regular progress update & reviews are conducted for all Head of the Department and Managers
- To conduct performance appraisal of the Department Heads

Requirements

Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree in Hotel Management
- Previous experience as Director of Operations or EAM is a must
- Food & Beverage experience in a senior leadership role mandatory
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in Luxury Hotels
- Experience in a leadership role in the UAE is a must
- Oral and written fluency in English
- Motivator and self-starter
