Job description / Role

My client a leading Real Estate Developer in Abu Dhabi requires a Draftsman/3D Modeler , they will be integral in meticulously converting initial sketches and complex design concepts into precise CAD line work and accurate 3D models, serving as the foundation for the architectural visualization process. With expert use of specialized software, this role is vital in creating advanced pre-concept and visionary design packages, transforming rudimentary designs into detailed, proportioned 3D representations. Working closely with internal teams and leadership, the individual refines models based on feedback, ensuring alignment with company standards and effectively conveying the overarching design intent for each conceptualized vision.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Officer, Draftsman/ 3D Modeler support the Design Team in crafting detailed visualizations that vividly reflect design intentions. The selected individual is expected to:

* Convert architectural plans, drawings, and concepts into realistic 3D models, serving as the groundwork for advanced visualization.
* Utilize specialized software, including AutoCAD, Autodesk 3Ds Max, SketchUp, Lumion, Revit, Rhino, and Blender for high-quality visual representations.
* Ensure meticulous dimensioning, annotations, and notes on drawings, providing essential details to engineers, clients, and stakeholders.
* Continuously incorporate feedback from internal architectural and engineering teams to refine and improve 3D models.
* Diligently track, document, and manage revisions and updates to drawings and models throughout the design and development lifecycle.
* Spearhead initiatives to enhance and streamline visualization processes and workflows, aligning with organizational requirements.
* Implement and uphold file organization protocols, ensuring consistency in naming conventions for seamless collaboration.
* Ensure interoperability between different software platforms for smooth transition of models and drawings.
* Collaborate closely with senior leadership of the Visioning, Visualization & Graphics team for timely delivery of project milestones.
* Develop and manage project timelines, reviewing them regularly to ensure timely progress and adherence to schedules.
* Lead and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and learning environment.
* Stay informed about industry shifts, emerging techniques, technologies, and advancements in 3D modeling and visualization software.
* Apply scripting languages like Python for automation within drafting and modeling software.
* Optimize 3D models for smoother integration and performance in visualization software.
* Prepare and optimize models for 3D printing processes when necessary.
* Establish and adhere to organizational drafting and modeling standards and conventions.
* Perform quality control checks on models and drawings for accuracy and compliance.
* Implement efficient layer management techniques within CAD software.
* Develop and maintain a library of common elements, materials, and textures.
* Prepare models with appropriate texturing, lighting, and shading to support rendering processes.
* Engage in ongoing learning and professional development in drafting and modeling.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Design, or related fields.
* Master's degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or a closely related field is advantageous.
* 4-6 year's experience in real estate design & development, with leadership roles in managing large teams and projects.
* Advanced certification or training in AutoCAD, 3Ds Max, SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, Blender, or other related design and modeling software.
* Certification or courses in project management can also be beneficial.
* Proven track record of previous GCC or UAE experience is essential.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

* Hands-on experience with various drafting and 3D modeling software applications.
* Proficiency in utilizing specialized tools and software including but not limited to AutoCAD, Autodesk 3Ds Max, SketchUp, Lumion, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Revit is essential.
* Deep understanding and ability to leverage their full software capabilities to create superior, precise, and accurate visual representations.
* Ability to employ advanced features and functions of software tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of the design and modeling process, ultimately contributing to the production of exceptional and visionary design packages.
* Experience in working on large-scale and complex projects, preferably in both the public and private sectors.
* Strong technical proficiency and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of architectural planning and drafting.
* Proven experience in collaborating with multiple disciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers.
* Familiarity with the full project lifecycle, from conceptualization to execution and post-implementation review.
* Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to creating high-quality work.
* Exceptional attention to detail regarding aesthetics, color, texture, and composition.
* Continuous dedication to staying updated with the latest developments and technologies in 3D modeling and visualization.
