Job description / Role
Dry Dock Specialist Key Accountabilities:
• Plan, organize, and lead drydock and major maintenance projects for offshore vessels, ensuring minimal downtime and full compliance with safety and technical standards.
• Prepare detailed repair and docking specifications in coordination with technical superintendents and operational teams.
• Visit vessels before docking to carry out condition assessments and identify repair needs.
• Coordinate all pre-docking activities, including work scope development, class and flag approvals, and scheduling.
• Select suitable shipyards based on location, availability, cost, and experience with offshore vessels.
• Supervise repair works at the yard, ensuring quality control and timely execution of all critical jobs including hull, machinery ,firefighting systems (FiFi2), and DP systems.
• Track project timelines, cost estimates, and actual spending.
• Identify variances and take corrective actions when needed.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate service contracts and repair costs for best value and performance.
• Ensure all documentation is up to date, including inspection reports, repair records, class certificates, and technical files.
• Monitor health, safety, and environmental practices during all drydock activities and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
• Handle unexpected technical issues or delays by coordinating rapid solutions with yard teams and internal departments.
• Review completed drydock projects to identify areas for improvement and update maintenance strategies.
• Work closely with the procurement team to source critical spares and services in line with project needs.
• Provide regular reports and updates to management on the status of each project, including progress, issues, and budget tracking.
• Support in the development of long-term maintenance planning for each vessel, including drydock cycles and special surveys.
Requirements:
• Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of drydock experience with offshore vessels such as AHTS, PSV, FSIV, or FiFi2.
• Strong knowledge of vessel systems, including DP2 and FiFi2.
• Experience managing full drydock cycles, including planning, execution, and cost control.
• Familiarity with class and flag requirements, and international maritime standards.
• Skilled in contractor coordination, budgeting, and technical reporting.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel and support emergency technical needs.
• BOSIET/FOET and project management certification are a plus
Salary:
AED
20,000 to 25,000
per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
