Job description / Role
The Electrical Engineer position is responsible for planning and coordinating the design, installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical systems for construction projects.
- Design electrical systems/equipment to provide a useful and safe workplace.
- Devise and outline maintenance procedures for electrical systems/equipment to ensure maximum service life and utilization.
- Provide advice regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet and comply with safety codes.
- Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes.
- Conduct fault studies and load flow analysis.
- Develop design criteria for protective device coordination, relay applications, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution.
- Coordinate developing electrical master plan for research facilities encompassing the following: reliable power distribution, motor control centers, energy efficient lighting system, communications and data, instrumentation and controls for HVAC systems, fire-alarm interface, adjustable speed drives, uninterrupted power systems (UPS) systems, emergency generators.
- Review existing electrical designs and specifications being purchased or fabricated.
- Provide assistance for existing facilities, electrical estimations for equipment, construction, and modifications for mechanical and plumbing designs.
- Provide electrical design guidance on multi-discipline projects, developing concept studies and design, ensures the new systems are compatible with existing systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Fifteen (10) years of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
