Opportunity

Parsons is the PMC for the development and upgrade of a landmark project in Abu Dhabi where the scope of work compromises project management services, including design and engineering, tender support, scheduling, sub-contractor coordination, field supervision, QA/QC services, infection control. Moreover, it compromises interim life safety measurements compliance as required to implement engineered solutions to complete the agreed upon Fire and Life Safety, HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical systems recommissioning.

Position Overview

The Electrical (ELV) Engineer provides a focal point for all electrical engineering issues throughout the construction contract by reviewing contractor’s electrical submittals, visiting the site and taking a lead role in the commissioning of electrical equipment. The Electrical (ELV) Engineer has up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, international codes/standards and possess a broad knowledge and experience of electrical works in large building and infrastructure projects complemented by practical experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Generally responsible for implementations and monitoring of all electrical related works at site as per approved drawings and methods and safety rules in a live hospital ensuring all activities are well planned and coordinated.
• Estimates, prepares and requests assignment of resources such as workforce, materials, consumables, equipment, tools, etc., required for all electrical and related works, before execution. Plans and analyses all possible construction methodologies and recommends the best options to the ELV Construction Manager and Project Director for approval, before execution at site.
• Interprets construction drawings and studies the contract documents and applicable standards or specifications before execution of any jobs.
• Manages directly and provide engineering and technical support to all the electrical workgroups at the site.
• Plans the execution of all Electrical related works and coordinates the works with Mechanical and civil groups.
• Assign targets for accomplishments and ensure objectives are met on a daily basis for all Electrical groups at the site.
• Submits all relevant monitoring reports on a regular basis or as required.
• Supports the ELV Construction Manager and Project Director in accomplishing all the goals and targets for the Electrical groups at the site.
• Ensures that all the works done are in accordance with the approved construction drawings, contract documents, project specifications, and all applicable standards whether local, national or international standards.
• Manages and supervises all Electrical Works and equipment installation activities.
• Attends regular meetings with the client and other disciplines to provide an update on project progress.
• Pre-resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems at the site that may arise at any time.
• Coordinates contractors in preparing the daily progress reports.
• Able to lead site personnel to execute and complete the job on time.
• Performs other related duties as may be required by the Project Director.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related field and 8-10 years of relevant work experience in basic design requirements, estimation, installation and all site activities related to all Electrical works for construction of large-scale building projects.
• Familiar with all the Electrical Engineering methodologies as well as the corresponding equipment, materials, consumables, tools and workforce allocations related to Electrical works for building projects.
• Well versed in interpreting and executing Electrical related drawings.
• Large projects and Gulf experience is preferred.
• Proven ability to perform in a technical lead capacity.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
