Job purpose
This position is a unique opportunity for you to work on DEWA substations projects and be responsible for supervising the departmental and contracts site works of 11 kV and 33 kV substation installation and commissioning in order to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion of projects.
Main duties
Your main duties will be to:
- Receive new job orders from the planning section and allot them to contractors.
- Study the CAR with ring diagram and understand NOC drawings.
- Prepare weekly and daily plans for cable laying and excavation targets.
- Provide necessary NOCs and all related documents to contractors. Ensure closure of job orders on the SAP system.
- Ensure that materials reconciliations, manpower and vehicle timesheets, and necessary updates are completed. Certify invoices submitted by contractors.
- Arrange coordination meetings with contractors for weekly cable laying progress planning as per contractual targets and other related issues. Monitor progress daily to achieve weekly targets.
- Coordinate with Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, developers, and other agencies to resolve site issues. Attend and coordinate with internal DEWA departments and sections to ensure smooth completion of jobs.
- Ensure non-disclosure of confidential information to anyone within or outside the authority during or after employment in DEWA.
- Follow and adhere to the OH&S Management System Manual as per DEWA's safety standards.
- Manage issue and return of material from DEWA stores to contractors. Verify and inspect material reconciliation on a monthly basis and forward material reconciliation and store checking reports to section and department heads.
- Certify as-built drawings of completed works for GIS update and for final completion certificate from Roads and Transport Authority.
- Conduct site visits to ensure that quality and safety procedures are being followed. Ensure jobs are executed by contractors according to DEWA technical and standards specifications and achieve targets and KPIs on time. Calculate delay penalties and liquidated damages, if applicable, and forward them to the accounts department or legal advisor for deduction. Participate in conducting inspection of materials and equipment before issuing dispatch clearance.
Profile
Ideally, you will have graduated in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years' experience in HV cable laying works, underground utilities, and infrastructure works for substations.
You are fluent in English.
You will have good interpersonal and organizational skills as well as a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
