Electrical Technician

Job description / Role

JOB PURPOSE:

Carrying out the Preventive, Breakdown and Major overhaul maintenance of all electrical equipment such as low / high voltage motors, Transformers, Motor operating valve, low /high voltage switchboard (up to 11kV) and associated control panels, UPS System, Batteries and lighting.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Electrical Technician shall be required to undertake such duties as assigned to him by the Electrical Supervisor / Senior Electrical Technician or his delegate and will include, but not limited to the following;
• To cover the maintenance activities of Power Generation and Distribution.
• To liase with the Electrical Supervisor / Senior Electrical Technician on the concerned complex for carrying out the Preventive, Breakdown and Shutdown maintenance of all Electrical Equipment.
• To carry out routine checks and arising system operational problems.
• Trouble shooting of Electrical equipment such as LV/HV Motors, Transformers, Motor Operated Valves, Rectifiers, UPS System, Battery Banks, Circuit Breakers, Lighting distribution etc.
• To carry out related duties such as preparing standardised report forms for Preventive/Breakdown/Shutdown maintenance works.
• Co-ordinate with other departments for Trouble shooting, Pre-Commissioning and commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Ensures availability of most commonly used spare parts, arranging stores, maintaining records of all items and reports to Senior Electrical Technician / Electrical Supervisor in case of shortage of any materials.
• To maintain Good house keeping of work sites.

Requirements

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

• Secondary education certificate followed by 2 years formal training in electrical technology.
• 5 years experience in electric maintenance and repair work of H.V/L.V electrical equipment.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English
