Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

An Emergency Response Officer (ERO) is mainly deployed as part of a specialist Rapid Response Team (RRT) on Duty ready and prepared to react to various critical incidents. Some of the responsibilities include but are not subject to:
- Support the Director monitoring and contributing to the review of THOE policies associated with fire protection and prevention and where necessary intervention
- Support the Director in engaging and developing internal/external parties in order to deliver key objectives for the benefit of achieving a safer community
- Support the Training Manager where necessary in Training Internal organisational staff and external parties
- To Carry out regular fire safety inspections
- Ensure all personal and operational equipment is ready and available at all times and fully functional.
- Carry out regular maintenance cleaning of specialist emergency equipment PPE and general station area,
- Take responsibility for effective performance, develop your own skills to improve personal performance and establish and maintain effective working relationships with people
- Support the development of teams and individuals by contributing to the identification of development needs, plan the development of teams, individuals activities and Training
- Manage information for action by gathering the required information informing and advising others and holding meetings
- Attend incidents as part of the RRT in line with Incident Command Protocols
- Carry out regular team training in line with Departmental policies and procedures
- Providing a flexible approach to emergency cover, when requested, during periods of extensive business core activities

Requirements

- Attended a recognised Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) course.
- Attended a recognised Fire fighting, Incident management, Team Leader , or operational command role.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in an operational role
- Experience of working under pressure at an operational incident
- Fire Safety Experience/Risk Assessment/ Health and Safety

Desirable skill sets:
- Rope rescue TRR200/300 /NFPA/RESCUE 3
- PADI diving course
- Fire/Training instructor
- Inshore Oil spill response
- Ship Fire fighting skills
- Aviation fire fighting skills
- Hazmats
- First Aid (within 3 years)
- Marine driving license

- Must be Physically Fit and able to swim
- Motivated
- Conscientious
- Ability to adapt to an ever changing environment
- Flexible approach
- work under extreme pressure
